David Tennant, the actor who has famously played Doctor Who in the recent revival for the past few years has decided to retire from the role. 2009 will be his last year as The Doctor.

Mr Tennant said in a statement on his departure, “When Doctor Who returns in 2010 it won’t be with me.”

“Now don’t make me cry – I love this part, and I love this show so much that if I don’t take a deep breath and move on now I never will, and you’ll be wheeling me out of the Tardis in my bath chair.”

“I’ll miss it.”

His replacement is yet to be announced.

Shame, Tennant has portrayed the role brilliantly, his replacement will have a tough job.

I never got into Doc Who, but The Xmas special was well worth it. If you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favour and check it out.
