The classic 1939 film ‘The Wizard of Oz’ will see new life as an upcoming drama pilot for NBC.
Entitled ‘Dorothy Gale’, the modern day ‘Oz’ follows the story of Dorothy, from Kansas, who’s swept off to Manhattan (her version of the Emerald City). She finds a job in the art world and must deal with a wicked boss.
Jason Katims, who’s already busy working on ‘Friday Night Lights’ and the fellow NBC pilot, ‘Parenthood’, will oversee the ‘Dorothy’ pilot as an executive producer.
‘Dorothy Gale’ was penned by Bridget Carpenter (‘Friday Night Lights’), who’s also serving as an executive producer along with Meryl Poster (‘Chicago’).
Carpenter’s more recent work includes the short lived series ‘Bionic Woman’ and ‘Dead Like Me’.
