According to several sources, the Seven Network have been in negotiations with Warner Bros. in order to secure a future broadcast slate from the studio.

It’s reported that Seven have offered $AU52 million a year.

The Nine Network’s existing long term deal with the Warner Bros. costs approximately $AU40 million a year, however it is due to expire in December 2010.

Since losing their 20th Century Fox deal to Network Ten and Foxtel in 2006, the Seven Network have reaffirmed exclusive deals with ABC Studios and Universal Media Studios. Adding Waner Bros. to their list of suppliers would be a major upset for their competitors, by holding three of the big five US content producers.

It’s unclear whether Seven hope to secure an exclusive contract or just hope to break Nine’s exclusivity with the studio. Either way, Nine are expected to fight fire with fire to keep their contract in tact. Without Warner, the network will only have access to content from small time television players Sony, Lionsgate and Alliance Atlantis.
