‘Battlestar Galactica: The Official Companion Season Four’ written by Sharon Gosling gives the reviewers a fascinating insight into the final season of what has been proclaimed the greatest sci-fi series of our time.

Fans may be disappointed by the black and white images depicting scenes from each of season four’s episodes but there are a number of colour images as this companion is much more than just the images as the writers, actors and crew all give an honest account of making the final season leaving the reader satisfied with the extent of information provided.

The images are not just limited to black and white stills but the companion also offers several coloured images spanning across sixteen of cast photo shoots, iconic images from several episodes and most interesting pictures of props and costumes used throughout the series.

Edward James Olmos’ commitment and admiration of the show is clearly evident as the book opens with an introduction by the actor who played the iconic character Admiral William Adama.

Spanning 160 pages this book is a fitting tribute to the final chapter of ‘Battlestar Galactica’ providing insights with extensive character profiles on the array of unique characters that appeared in the show and an informative commentary of how the Cylons evolved over the series.

The final episode ‘Day Break’ is covered in great detail  with excerpts on the cast’s feelings as the show came to an end and how the creator Ronald D Moore would carry one of the most anticpated finals in sci-fi history.

The book also offers interesting trivia extracts on each episode from cameos, to director’s notes and behind the scenes knowledge giving an even greater insight into the series.

The official companion season four successfully documents the final season of ‘Battlestar Galactica’ allowing readers to not just look back upon season four but on the entire series itself.
