Alex O’Loughlin tapped for revamped ‘Hawaii 5-O’
The Aussie actor is in talks with CBS to front the revamped ‘Hawaii 5-O’, from Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (‘Fringe’).

According to Entertainment Weekly, Australia’s Alex O’Loughlin is the front runner to star in CBS’ revamped ‘Hawaii 5-O’ pilot.
The network have been looking to find a new project for O’Loughlin, after ‘Three Rivers’ was cancelled due to low ratings late last year.
“We love him,” said CBS president Nina Tassler during a press tour last week. “[We] want him to stay around a long time.”
‘Hawaii 5-O’ will mark O’Loughlin’s third drama project with the network, which began with the short lived vampire series ‘Moonlight’ in 2007.
‘Fringe’ co-creators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will write and produce the upcoming pilot, which will shoot on location in Oahu in the coming months.
The original series of ‘Hawaii 5-O’ ran for 12 seasons on CBS from the late 60’s. It starred Jack Lord as Steve McGarrett, a Hawaii State Police detective who answered only to the governor.

Yikes! A remake, not good. Why not something original? After two failed shows, awfully risky.

Third time is a charm! I’d watch him any time, any place and on any thing. But I love the idea of him playing a cop in Hawaii! Kurtzman and Orci are the hottest writing team in the biz right now. This has got to be excellent. The leading man is a sight to behold!

Alex is a wonderful actor, talented, sexy, and charismatic and he will shine in the role.

I loved Alex O’Loughlin in Moonlight and Three Rivers and was so disappointed when they were cancelled. I can’t wait to see him again on TV in a weekly series. I know he will be wonderful no matter what show he appears in since he is such a talented actor.

CBS have a winner with Alex. I would love to see Alex play a police/detective again. He is a terrific actor and when those top writers do their “stuff”, Hawaii Five-O will be a hit.

I can hardly wait for news that Alex O’Loughlin will be leading the cast as Lt. Commander McGarrett on Hawaii Five O. I miss Alex on my weekly television show immensely and believe that he is brilliant, charismatic and perfect for the role of a detective on a crime drama.
