Summer Glau has been cast in a lead role in NBC’s ‘The Cape’

Alan Tudyk has been tapped for a role in NBC’s ‘Rockford Files’ reboot.

Taking a page out of The CW’s book, the US cable channel have green-lit a pilot from Warner Horizon and Alloy, based on the series of novels by Sara Shepard.

Alloy Entertainment’s ‘Confessions of a Backup Dancer’ is being adapted for television for The CW, along with new projects from Mark Schwahn (‘One Tree Hill’) and Rob Thomas (‘Veronica Mars’).

With The CW’s recent drop of Sunday night programming from their schedule, competition has become even tighter for hopeful pilots and old faves for the green network.

The CW are hoping to cash in on some of that “Twilight” vampire craze. The network greenlight ‘Vampire Diaries’, based on a series of books from ‘Gossip Girl’ publisher.
