While the ‘Arrested Development’ movie is still far from completion, a reunion project at FOX is inching closer to reality.

‘Arrested Development’ creator/executive producer Mitch Hurwitz, co-star Will Arnett and co-executive producer Jim Vallely are awaiting a pilot order on a new comedy series for FOX.

The untitled half-hour comedy was originally based at Sony Pictures Television, who have since pulled out. However, Lionsgate Television (the producers of ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Weeds’) have now stepped to take over the project.

Deals are yet to be finalised, but are looking positive now that the studio issues have been resolved.

The comedy stars Arnett as a rich Beverly Hills jackass who falls in love with a charitable tree-hugging woman who can’t stand his lifestyle or values.

Arnett will serve as a producer on the pilot, which he co-wrote the pilot with Hurwitz and Vallely. Hurwitz and Vallely will serve as executive producers alongside Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum, Peter Principato and Paul Young.

Basic cable network AMC has officially optioned a third season of Emmy award winning drama Mad Men, but behind the scenes things aren’t so hunky dory.

Production base, Lionsgate currently don’t have a deal in place with creator/executive producer Matthew Weiner for the third season. So while the show wraps up it’s second season over the next two weeks, negotiations will continue between the studio and the head honcho.

Sources claim, however, that Weiner is also fishing for a significant pay rise and over all deal with the studio, and with Mad Men’s increasing popularity and critical acclaim it seems rightly deserved. It’s also believe that Weiner made rounds with several other major studios leading up to/and after the drama’s Emmy win.

So the question is, will Lionsgate step up to the plate or will Weiner be forced to look elsewhere for a home?

For the sake of the show, let’s hope Lionsgate nail down that contract and sign Weiner up for several more years to come.

Mad Men concludes it second season next week on AMC.

So we’re not quite sure why ABC Studios sold the DVD rights for Reaper to Lionsgate, but we’re fairly certain that Reaper Season One has one of the fugliest DVD covers I’ve seen in a while. It looks like something my 4 year old cousin put together on scrap-booking day in kindergarten.

Despite the afore mentioned flaw, it looks to be one devilish set.  The five-disc boxed set will be released on November 4 by Lionsgate in the US, with all 18 episodes plus bonus features. $US39.98 RRP. Reaper stars Brett Harrison (The Loop), Ray Wise (Twin Peaks) and Missy Peregrym (Heroes).

It returns mid-season on The CW and in 2009 on Seven.
